Hoosier Energy is a generation and transmission cooperative (G&T) that provides wholesale electric power and services to 18 member distribution cooperatives. Created in 1949 to provide power at the lowest cost for distribution cooperative members, the G&T is headquartered in Bloomington, Indiana, with a Power Delivery Operations Center in Owen County. Opened in 2014, the state-of-the-art Owen County Operations Center houses Hoosier Energy’s transmission, substation, system control, engineering, and other operations departments. It employs 60 full-time staff, all working together to provide efficient power supply operations for Hoosier Energy’s member cooperatives.
